SP DX Contest 2019

This coming weekend, from 15:00 UTC on April 6th to 15:00 UTC April 7th, you can participate in SP DX Contest. You find the rules here.

The contest is organized by Polish Amateur Radio Union (Polski Związek Krótkofalowców) in cooperation with the SP DX Club. Amateurs around the world should contact as many Polish stations in as many provinces of Poland as possible. Polish stations use the following prefixes: 3Z, HF, SN, SO, SP, SQ.

My simple QRP setup

When working contests I really like to keep my setup simple. I use an Yaesu FT-817nd and a ladder-fed dipole. The matchbox is a MFJ-971.

I’m lucky enough to have a good relation to my ex mother in-law and therefore I can borrow a small cottage. The cottage is located approx. 30 km east of Stockholm. Please note that nothing of value is stored when the cottage is unattended! The remote location, still not too far from Stockholm, offers a very good HF environment.

tlf logging software

Soon fourteen hours into the WPX SSB contest. I work QRP and so far I have worked 28 stations. Strange propagation with a lot of stations with good signal strength a bit further away, but very few European stations.

My setup is a Yaesu FT-817nd and a ladder-fed 2 x 5 dipole. I participate in the SO Assisted QRP 20 m category.

As I prefer Free/Libre Open-Source Software I use tlf to do the logging on my Xubuntu Linux laptop.
